Delaware Water Gap: The charming old-grace of Milford and the country castle of Gifford Pinchot cap off the journey. A pedestrian river bridge, overlooks, trailheads, picnic areas and river accesses invite stopping. In places, a medieval-looking toothy stone rail accents views. Where the river cuts a twisting path through 1,400-foot Kittatinny Ridge, view the S-shaped chasm of Delaware Water Gap. Admire steep wooded-and-rock slopes, bountiful rhododendron, dark hollows, tinsel-like ravines and tumbling waterfalls.

My experience with Pennsylvania is primarily on its eastern half and there is so much to talk about. Along the river is Milford. This is another of the hundreds of nice little historic town of Pennsylvania. Of particular note here is Grey Towers. This is the magnificent home and grounds of Gifford Pinchot. If you are in this area of the northeast border of Pennsylvania do make this place a stop. It really is worth your time. We loved it. More recently my wife and I have been to Scranton, a number of times, for a retreat weekend held on the University grounds. Nearby is Steamtown National Historic Site. It's a great place, especially for those who love trains.
